Dr. Nathan Hudson-Peacock
|
Medical Education
Having graduated from the University of Cambridge with 1st class honours, he went on to complete his foundation medical training at King’s College Hospital, London, for which he was awarded Trust Prizes for Clinical Excellence and Leadership. He currently works for the NHS in Emergency Medicine and Anaesthesia in one of London's busiest hospitals, and has experience working in medicine, surgery, critical care, paediatric emergency medicine, general practice and psychiatry.
Expedition Medicine, Training & Consulting
Dr Nathan has provided medical support in desert, jungle, marine, polar and high-altitude environments (see Timeline). He has extensive experience at high altitude and is a PADI Dive Master, and his main interest lies in climate crisis/conservation/sustainability research and media focused expeditions. He has experience working with a variety of clients including media, research scientists, high net worth individuals, large corporate groups, young adults and varied groups of charity fundraising trekkers. When he is not on expedition or in the hospital, he works as an instructor on wilderness medicine and advanced life support (ALS) courses, and does regular speaking engagements. As well as providing medical support on expedition, Nathan is available to provide pre-expedition wilderness medicine training, travel health consultations, and consulting support on expedition safety and expedition sustainability. To make an enquiry, please get in touch.
Expedition Photographer
As a photographer, Nathan has had the opportunity to photograph a number of expeditions, the most notable being his work for the Zoological Society of London in the Indian Ocean, and for National Geographic as the assistant photographer in North Greenland, responsible primarily for shooting social media video content. He is currently using DJI, Nikon iPhone and GoPro. Some examples of his photography can be found in the header sections of this website, or you can view his Ecuador highlights here and his instagram page here. He is available for hire as an expedition photographer, both in the UK and internationally. To make an enquiry, please get in touch.
Motivational Speaker
Dr Nathan has extensive experience delivering speaking engagements, from invited talks at international conferences to delivering motivational talks to corporate groups, members clubs, schools and more. In 2022, he delivered a TEDx talk in London on the climate health crisis, see here. His talks are supplemented with captivating photography and anecdotes from his work as an expedition doctor, and never fail to leave his audience inspired. He talks on leadership, finding purpose, mental resilience, workplace sustainability and the climate crisis. He is flexible, can cater to most speaking briefs, and always prepares talks specifically for the audience in mind, never recycling "off the shelf" talks. He is proud to be represented by the purpose-led speaker agency Speaker Buzz. For enquiries, please either contact Speaker Buzz or get in touch directly.
Testimonials
"I’ve employed Nathan for his wilderness medical skills on an expedition to Ecuador, this was partly for his medical knowledge (which in a doctor should be a given but often isn't) but more for his personable nature and aura that he has about him. It's hard to describe this last point without meeting him, a pleasure that you yet have to experience. Beyond all of this I consider Nathan a friend who I have no doubt would always go above and beyond for anyone."
"Nathan is clearly a very experienced expedition doctor. His professionalism was evident from the start and he very quickly engendered trust within the group creating an environment where participants felt comfortable to approach him to discuss a number of health issues, both physical and mental health issues. In particular, I observed Nathan deliver a masterclass of how to deal with potential heat exhaustion when one of the trek participants became unwell. His knowledge and practical approach to expedition medicine is the best I have witnessed. I would highly recommend Nathan for any future expedition."
"Nathan was always in great form, not intrusive at all but kept his eye on everyone. Excellent addition to the group. Lovely person, great craic, great doctor. Helped anyone who needed it which I really liked about him. Really supportive. Kept everyone is high spirits. Really good at this. Excellent photographer! They are professional. Added to the enjoyment of my trip having Nathan there. Great guy."
"Nathan gave a very engaging talk about his experiences as an exploration doctor. He told the inspirational stories very well and kept the pupils fascinated, speaking with passion and using incredible visual photos. At the end he answered the questions clearly and elaborated giving detailed answers."
